Dynamics of prices for building materials

Prices for construction and repair materials in December 2023 compared to November 2023 decreased by 0.2%. At the same time, year on year (December 2023 to December 2022) they decreased by an average of 2.6%, which is a significant decrease.

In December 2023, growth compared to the same period in 2022 was recorded for the following product groups:

• cement, lime (+17%)

• paints, varnishes (+7%)

• construction chemicals (+3%)

• local area (+2%)

• equipment, household appliances (+1%)

• carpentry (+1%)

• heating systems (+0.4%)

Prices in the period January-December 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 increased in 17 product groups. These include:

• cement, lime (+25%),

• paints, varnishes (+13%),

• construction chemicals (+10%),

• garden, hobby (+8%),

• dry mixes (+7%),

• furniture, household appliances (+6%).

Reduced prices for building materials

On a year-on-year basis (comparing December 2023 to December 2022), a decrease in prices for construction materials occurred in several product segments. This:

• tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (-1%),

• decor (-1%),

• tools (-1%),

• mechanization means (-2%),

• lighting, electrical (-3%),

• finishing (-3%),

• garden and hobbies (-3%),

• dry mixtures (-4%).

In the period January-December 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, prices decreased in the following groups:

• roofs, gutters (-3%),

• thermal insulation (-8%),

• OSB boards, wood (-21%).

Sales of construction materials in December 2023

The dynamics of sales in December 2023 year-on-year varied, with a significant decrease in product categories associated, among other things, with goods for the construction of houses (cement, lime -44%, house grounds -42%, roofs, gutters -28%) and an increase in the price of groups of goods related to interior repairs (finishing +31%, decor +7% and tools +6%).
