Consumer price index in Poland in November 2023
Prices for consumer goods and services in November 2023 increased by 6.6% compared to the same month last year (with an increase in prices for services by 8.6% and goods by 5.9%). Compared to the previous month, prices for goods and services increased by 0.7% (including for goods - by 1.0%, while prices for services decreased by 0.1%).
The consumer price index in November 2023 increased by November 2022 in all observed areas of life in Poland, except for transport (Table 1). Education services (by 10.4%) and restaurant and cafe services (10.3%) have increased in price the most. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products became more expensive (by 9.9%).

Food products (in general) became more expensive by 6.9% over the year. Among the products that have become more expensive, vegetables, coffee, tea, cocoa, and juices have become more expensive. Flour, poultry meat, milk, butter, sugar have become cheaper. Such a set of products with lower prices can only be encouraging.
We are also interested in real estate. Apartments increased in price by 7.6%, rents increased even more - by 7.8%. Housing maintenance and energy became more expensive by 8.1%. Of the utility services, the prices that rose the most were electricity - by 19.5%, gas - by 15.3%, and thermal energy - by 20.6%. By the way, the increase in heat prices is the largest in Poland of all observed positions.
In November 2023, compared to October, the greatest impact on the price indicator for consumer goods and services was the increase in prices for transport (by 5.1%), healthcare (by 0.7%) and restaurants and hotels (by 0.4%). There was a decrease in prices for leisure and culture (by 0.7%) and communications (by 0.9%).
Food products (in general) rose in price by 0.9% over the month. Among the products that have become more expensive, oil, fruits, and vegetables have become more expensive. Rice, pork, poultry, milk, and eggs have become cheaper.
Now about real estate. The cost of apartments in November remained at the same level as in October. Rents increased by 0.5%. Housing maintenance and energy became more expensive by 0.1%. Among utilities, the prices that rose the most were sewerage – by 0.8%, water – by 0.3%, heat – by 0.2%. Electricity and gas remained at the same prices as a month ago.
