Six countries ranked first in the ranking of the world's most powerful passports in 2024. This prestigious status is due to the privilege of citizens of these countries, who can enjoy visa-free access to 194 of the 227 countries around the world.

The Henley Passport Index, which ranks passports based on the number of places their holders can travel to without a prior visa, showed a tie for first place. The exclusive club includes six countries: Spain, Germany, France and Italy, as well as Singapore and Japan. The last two countries have consistently dominated the rankings for five years.

Second place on the podium is occupied by countries such as South Korea, Finland and Sweden, offering visa-free access to 193 countries.

They are followed in third place by Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands and Austria. Citizens of these countries can enter 192 countries without a visa.

Countries that have reached 191 visa-free entry locations include Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal and the UK.

This year, Poland received its highest result in the history of the ranking, taking 6th place in the ranking. Since 2006, the Polish passport has risen by ten places. The picture below shows which places you can travel without a visa with a Polish passport:

Along with Poland, Australia and New Zealand are on the same level. Citizens of these three countries can travel to 189 countries without the need for visas.

Following Poland were the United States. Americans can visit 188 places around the world visa-free, according to the Henley & Partners ranking.

The last place in the ranking was taken by Afghanistan, which has visa-free access to only 28 countries.

The rankings are based on data provided by the International Air Transport Organization (IATA), which tracks the number of countries accessible without first requiring a visa. The rating has been conducted for 19 years and its results show a positive trend towards increasing freedom of movement. The average number of countries accessible without a visa has almost doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024.

The country that has improved the most in the last ten years is the United Arab Emirates. The country recorded a jump of 11 positions from 55th place in 2014, reaching an increase of 106 countries with visa-free access.

Recently, the importance of passports of citizens of Ukraine and China has increased significantly. Both countries moved up two places last year. China currently ranks 62nd in the ranking, while Ukraine is ranked 32nd.
